Sasan Gir

Sasan Gir National Park is a major big cat hub in Gujarat, India. Gir National Park is considered as pride of not just Gujarat but entire India because it is only place in world where you can spot Asiatic Lions.
Gir National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary is spread in 1412 sq km of area. Rich is wildlife species, Gir Forest is home to 38 species of mammals, 37 species of reptiles and over 300 species of birds. Some very rare birds are found in Gir Forest that have almost extinct from other parts of the world.
The main tourist attraction of Gir Forest remains to be Asiatic Lions. According to 2010 census, there are over 411 Lions at the park. The park is only home of the Asiatic Lion King in the world. Tourists throng from all parts of the world to see Asiatic Lions in Gir Forest of Gujarat.
Apart from Lions, Gir National Park is also home to more than 300 leopards. This makes this national park one of the major big cats hub in India. The Park officials arrange wildlife safari at the Gir National Park. Tourists are not allowed to take their vehicles inside the park.

Asiatic Lions : The only place outside Africa to see Lions is Gir Forest in Gujarat.

Other Wildlife : Gir is not all about Asiatic Lions. There are over 38 different wildlife species to spot in the forest. This includes leopard, Chital, Nilgai, Chinkara, Sloth bears, Jungle Cats, Striped Hyenas, Golden Jackals, Indian Mongoose, Desert cats, Blackbucks and many more.

Reptiles : The reptiles are represented by Marsh crocodile, Indian Star Tortoise, Monitor Lizard, Pythons and many more.

Bird Watching : With over 300 species of birds that include some very rare and endangered species, Gir National Park is ideal place for Bird watching. Just don't forget to bring your camera.
Wildlife Safari : The wildlife safaris at Gir National Park are conducted by park guides. These safaris are best to spot Asiatic Lions and leopards. The duration of jeep safaris are 3-4 hours. The wildlife safaris are offered two times a day 7 to 11am and 3 to 5pm.

Somnath : Around 40km from Gir is the Somnath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva in the world.
